A textured study exploring the fragmented forms, heavy masonry and weathered surfaces of an ancient window detail. The tightly cropped composition focuses on the relationship between curved stonework, rough brickwork and deep shadow, creating an abstract study of material, texture and architectural decay.
Acrylic and charcoal layered across a textured surface of newspaper and tissue paper create a dense, tactile composition, with irregular marks and heavily worked surfaces emphasising the aged and weathered character of the original architectural detail.
Part of The Drawing Archive, a collection of architectural drawings, observational studies and works gathered from sketchbooks and design projects.
Printed on heavyweight 200 gsm premium matte paper with a smooth, non-reflective finish, selected to preserve the deep tonal contrast, layered textures and tactile character of the original artwork.
