An expressive study of the Burj Al Arab, exploring its distinctive curved silhouette and soaring vertical form. Layered fields of yellow and orange paper form a bold coloured backdrop for the black mark-making, creating a textured composition that emphasises the scale and sculptural character of the building.

Designed by Tom Wright, the Burj Al Arab opened in 1999 and takes its distinctive form from the sail of a traditional Arabian dhow, becoming one of the defining architectural symbols of Dubai.

Part of The Drawing Archive, a collection of architectural drawings, observational studies and works gathered from sketchbooks and design projects.

Printed on heavyweight 200 gsm premium matte paper with a smooth, non-reflective finish, selected to preserve the bold colour, layered textures and expressive detail of the original artwork.
