An expressive study of the Manhattan Bridge, exploring the exposed steel structure, suspension cables and layered engineering of the bridge from a dramatic low-angle perspective. Fine black linework contrasts against a bold orange and red painted ground, emphasising the scale and structural complexity of the original form.
Completed in 1909, the Manhattan Bridge crosses New York City's East River, connecting Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. Designed by engineer Leon Moisseiff, its innovative use of deflection theory allowed for a lighter suspension structure and influenced later bridge design.
